The Ogoni Youth Federation (OYF) extends its profound appreciation to Senator Barinaada Mpigi, DSSRS, representing Rivers South East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, for his exceptional display of legislative gallantry. On Tuesday, July 4, 2023, Senator Mpigi moved a motion on the floor of the Senate, emphasizing the urgent need for the Construction of the Ogoni axis of the East/West Road.
The motion, which was in response to one of the requests and advocacies of the Ogoni Youth Federation (OYF), highlights the importance of bridging the infrastructure gap and enhancing economic growth in the area. Senator Mpigi, gravely concerned about the deplorable state of the road and the numerous accidents and casualties that have occurred, underlined the socio-economic benefits that would be realized for Country once the road is fixed in record time.
Speaking to the press in Port Harcourt, Amb. Legborsi Yamaabana, the President-General of OYF, described Senator Mpigi as a legislator who is deeply committed to continuously supporting the advancement of the growth and well-being of his people. Yamaabana praised Senator Mpigi’s timely intervention in addressing the plight of road users on the Ogoni axis of the East/West Road, recognizing him as a knowledgeable and experienced legislator.
He further extends gratitude to Senator Mpigi and urges him not to relent in his efforts until the road is fully rehabilitated. The Ogoni Youth Federation acknowledges the significant impact this initiative will have on the lives of the Ogoni people and the overall development of the region
